As venues around the state start to reopen, how can operators use this opportunity to make their spaces more inclusive for artists and music fans of all identities? We’ll explore standards that make venues accessible to every body, as well as codes of conduct that prioritize the safety of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Hear from experts about positive and practical changes that venues can consider to make their spaces safer.
Musician, activist, and author Shawna Potter will check in with experts and community members from around the state including Kimmy Hull and DJ Shannon Blowtorch of Sequeerity, Ryan Kroening of Events By Lady K, and Minnesota musician r0. They'll explore standards that make venues accessible to every body, as well as codes of conduct that make spaces safer for all people of all identities. Plus, catch a performance from Mayda.
Shawna Potter is the front-person for feminist punk band War On Women and the author of “Making Spaces Safer: A Guide to Giving Harassment the Boot Wherever You Work, Play, and Gather.” She believes everyone deserves to have a good time, free of harassment and violence.
LineCheck is made possible in part by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
